Cookin' Good (WIP) - feedback please
The project is about aiding good, healthy cooking and acquiring the knowledge needed to do so. I did some potato (!) printing as a test of the style I'd like to employ: ![]() Logotype development: ![]() You can see how I have developed the logotype, 1 through 3, and the possible tagline to work alongside it. I was going for a simple-as-poss approach, with the view of carving such a creation into a rudimentary stamp. This may not be possible, but I am going to give it ago. Feedback and constructive criticism really appreciated. Cheers for now Jamblo |

I too like version 3 the best, it looks fresh, healty and somewhat ecological. But I really don't see any resemblance between the style in the test printing and in the logo devlopment? If the potato print "look" is the style you want to employ in the logo, I don't think you have succeded. But, as I said in the beginning, version 3, is a nice logo Ideas are like fish...

Thanks for the feedback so far, chaps! @ Benjamin: You're right, they don't look similar... yet! What I plan to do is make a stamp of some kind out of the final logo design, and employ it the same way I did my experiment. If I can't achieve such complexities on the stamp, then I will attempt to digitally recreate it. I should probably have been clearer about that! |

Sounds like a fun idea. Instead of using potatoes, you could also try simply cutting shapes out of black card and turning the results into a logo. It might also make an interesting font! My free fonts www.utfi.net

7 was my favourite too. I just spent 1hr 30mins carving this out of far-too-thick cardboard: I'm gonna have a go at using it as a stencil, but I fear it's going to be a friggin disaster. ![]() Would really like to go down this route instead: S for Stamps A4 & A5 Sheets |

Hmmm... ![]() A furry roller doesn't really work. Off to get some spray paint now. The kerning, etc. is somewhat lost doing it by hand. I might see about getting the logo lazer cut onto some thick stock and use that instead. Would really love to make a stamp, though. |

Hey, if you draw the letters, I'll put them into a font for you. Then you can kern the results how you want. I need the letters about 200 pixels tall at 300 dpi but if you send a jpeg or pdf with the characters in a decent size, I can take it from there. Send a PM if you're up for it! Hey man, originally it is a font, called houschka bold. All i did was remove the holes. The reason it looks cappy is that the shape of the letters didn't quite translate to the stencil, simply because I'm crap at craft! Thank you for the offer though, appreciate it edit // now I understand what you mean... once I've made the letters, scan them in and you'll make them kern-able! I'll get back to you on that - thanks heaps! |

Well I got some spray paint, and the stencil worked better (especially on a porous surface, like wood, that allowed the type to 'grow' a bit). It worked a damn sight better as a stamp though! ![]() ![]() The next step is going to be getting a proper stamp made I think. Would still appreciate feedback chaps. Cheers Jam |
