Hi all Just found this forum and thought i'd post my site on it to get some helpfull advice and comments about it. Pix and Mix - Complete Business Start-up, Support, Web design & Graphics Service, St Neots, Cambridgeshire, website The site's not completely finished yet as I still need to fix the background in position as it moves around when you make the window different sizes and i need the flowers to stay in one place, not sure how i'm ment to do this so any advice would be great, I'm very new to web design!! Theres also a problem when the site is viewed in firefox as the buttons on the main page are ment to be allined in the centre not on the left, this shows up correctly in IE7 so gotta work out how to fix it!! any other comments you've got good or bad would be a great help many thanks pixie xxx |

this forum is a commutity of designers. there is a post limit on links in a effort to stop spammers. so the comments you left, where they: 1 honest appraisals of work and you happened to feel you had something to contribute to the threads? 2 just 'thats nice' crap punted out over 1/2 hour to run up you post count so you could get your backlink? |

they were just honest appraisals of work that i like, i think its important for people to know if there works good or bad and i thought every oppinion counted .. i will be commenting on other peoples work and giving them advice if i feel theres something wrong with it like i expect people to do with my work .. i thought that was how the forums ran. |

Hhmm, one day on this forum and an expert already. Clearly my site doesn't have the aesthetic or technical qualities of your little masterpiece, I'll keep practicing. I was mainly having a pop due to your spamming, nothing personal, and the layout of your site does need some work. I thought you might find the You Suck at Photoshop videos amusing, most people do… |

I would say it's a very novice site. Being a graphic designer does not mean you can jump into web design, but it doesn't mean you should shy away from it either. Just different styles in web than in print. You've got some very rookie mistakes that you should work out. Use text for links, not images, and have some standard navigation from page to page so people can get around a bit easier. On the about / portfolio page you've got something called 'mixed meat navigation' where you are using box images as your navigation, but they are not obvious as to what they are. Also 'This website is best viewed on a 1280 x 1024 screen setting'... doesn't matter what size the screen is, your site is a big black box. Your background is a 900 x 900 image, so why 1280 x 1024? Days of saying 'Best viewed in blah' are over and done with. You've got a long road ahead of you, but it can be very exciting. Keep it up, don't let us jaded professionals get you down. |

no i'm not an expert at all .. that why i'm here .. to learn new things and advance myself , you said nothing in your last messages about spamming .. just slagging off my site in a childish way so i did take it personnaly, i know i need to do a lot of work on it thats why i posted it here to get other peoples oppinions .. childish comments piss me off, i just want people to leave more adult comments good or bad explaining what i need to do to make it better. If you read up the page you'll see that i didn't realise i was spamming, i was just leaving comments on the sites i like and on some that i thought could do with changing as i thought people would do the same for me. If you say theres nothing personal theres no hard feelings just as long as you know it wasn't my intention to be a spammer!! I couldn't see the videos on your site, if you let me know where they are i'll have a look as they do sound quite amusing |
