Developing a new design

Hi there,

I'm currently working on a new design for my portfolio website: MH Productions // Webdesign and graphic design!

I have some screens of what my new site might look like. I would like some comments on my new design so I can improve it.

You can find the screenshots here, here, here and here.

Thanks a lot!

Regards,
Maarten

Looks very good, but I actually prefer the one you have now

Thanks!

Yes, I'm still working on the new design. But I need a somewhat more modern design. I think my old site hasn't got anymore...

Any more comments?

New layout looks really nice. I like where you're going with it.

Looks nice. I don't like that you put "Portfolio, the best of my work" If I was a client looking at that I'd think..."So what's his normal work going to be? What would I be getting? I bloody hope I get some of that good stuff!"

:p

Maybe change it to something a little more fitting. Big yourself p on your portfolio...it's the best place for it.

the new design looks pretty good, but I think the original design looks excellent and better (and more modern)

the logo is awfully big. I don't like the font you used for less is more and welcome. I also don't like how they are connected. the same goes for that sort of header on each page.

Logo needs work.

With a better logo the "less is more"-version might just work.

Hi maarten,

personally i like the new version better but the first one (http://www.mhproductions.eu/images/m...ayout_home.jpg) i donīt think is so good, because: you say "welcome" but you see a girl walking AWAY ...

and then i think your logo is tooooooo big. my eyes canīt focus on the main text becuase i always have to "switch back" to that mighty logo :-)

Kerning you could drive your logo through. (LOGO HUGE).

It's improved overall trying to be more minimal, but its suffering from the typography and epic sized logo, can't say I think much of the logo itself, it doesn't say anything to me, its not great, its grads and shadows and pretty lacklustre, if you're upping your game I'd have another crack at an identity for yourself. And then keep it a tidy size in relation to your website.

Would rethink some of the copy itself too, it's a bit "I'm cheap as chips!" which isn't doing yourself ultra favours unless you want clients to take advantage all the time. Some of the wording seems unneccessary like less is more ... the best of my work (has a bit of a negative connotation, that everything else is rubbish) selected samples of my work sounds like the work is more consistent or something more neutral and less - here's the things i can stand to show folks.

photography is nice...
but the whole website stands against the less is more concept you're preaching. shadows, sizes, boxes, type, images all fight for attention. Keep it simple.

{Giant JPEGs hurt my dialup }

I really like the new design. The colorful picture makes it what it is, and even if the background were blank it would all seem to fit.
