Newest Sleek, Professional Soccer Template

I'm looking for some personal opinions on my newest work in progress. This is for a friend of mine and I wanted to receive some feedback on what everyone thinks so far with the header and what I could possibly improve on.

Thanks, greatly appreciated.

Not a lot to see so far but what there is looks tidy enough. Not 100% convinced by the serif fonts in the menu and "click here to send" link but aside from that, pretty header so far.

Yea, I agree with you on the Georgia font on the navigation. I wanted to be able to code the navigation easily in CSS styling, so I wanted it to be simple but elegant. Also, with the Click Here to Send, I wanted to do something else to it to add a little spice and give it a better flow but I couldn't think last night. If you have any suggestions on what I could do with that to help it look better, let me know.

Thanks,
Redemption

I think I agree. I might like sans-serif better as well, but it looks like you have a nice work in progress. If your content is laid out nicely, you'll have a decent site.

jthomas - Thanks for the feedback. I had a pretty solid idea/concept laid out in my drawings and on the wireframe, so I really believe it'll come out even better than I hoped.

digipaint - lol, I was a little iffy on that part with the reflection showing up in the grass. I know it's not possible, but it's worth a shot though. I wanted to try something a little out of the ordinary. I try to innovate, not imitate. Seriously though, it isn't that horrific is it? *Maybe it's a type of "Web 2.0" grass*

Also, does anyone have any font suggestions for the navigation?
- I'm looking for georgia-type fonts or an elegant but clean font that could be worked into CSS styling. I'm aware of the usual Tahoma, Verdana, Georgia font families, but maybe someone else has a better idea.

I didn't notice it before but now it's been pointed out.. must say, it looks a bit gash. Everything else (bar the serif fonts) is sweet.

Thanks for the comment Trans. I'm going to change the header a little (including removing the reflection and trying something different). I'll definitely give you guys an update when it's complete.

yeah well don't try anything too different! I, for one, quite like it as it is! just needs a few small amends and then she's apples.

To be honest, I love this the way it is (with of course a few minor alterations), but the client I'm creating this for said that it didn't look "professional" enough. He gave me no preference on color, but said that the blue/green should be removed. So I'm pretty much having to scrap this idea and start all over again. Have to love the freelance scene.

*Actually, I'm going to create the design completely with two different headers. I want to do this for me, because personally, I don't want to completely scrap this concept. I'm going to do two versions for myself and for the client to be used for future portfolio use*

Is it just me, or does that bloke have a REALLY long arm? It throws it off a bit IMO.

Other than that, it's too bad it's going to be scrapped. Pissy client...

Yep. You'd be really feeling that way even more if you seen his current site.

Here's his current header to give you an idea of his "standards", lol.

I really wanted to say that I appreciate the comments and all the feedback so far. I'm a new member to this community and I'm glad so far I've had a warm and comfortable experience.

Thanks again guys,
Redemption

Hang about.. is he the designer or are you the designer? If you went out for a posh meal and told Anthony Worrell Thompson or Ainsley Harriot that they weren't allowed to use spinach, capers or anchovies in your meal, surely they'd tell you to fuck right off?

But if you went into Burger King and said "no onions", you'd get no onions.

But does Redemption consider himself to be Burger King or does he see himself more as The Savoy Grill?

bad analogy really, even if you had a meal cooked by Ainsley Harriot - you'd get what was stated on the menu and if it tasted shit you'd complain.

experience over time will means that you will get better briefs out of clients to begin with and become better at selling the concepts you creat
