Business card for nail artist / manicurist

I had some room for creativity for this business card design which I did for my cousin-in-law, Mrs Janet Lim who is currently running a nail art service. It is a simple card with a pretty cool effect. With UV Varnishing, I was able to give the spilled nail polish a liquid feel.

Pretty nice. Like you said the UV Varnish does add to it. any chance of a side by side photo showing each side just to see the layout a bit better. Not that i am an expert but i like seeing how people layout there stuff.

I didn't take them side by side. But here's a soft version.

The typography is really nice, especially the juxtaposition of busy type of the front and clean type on the back.

Have you considered flipping the janetz with the nailart on the front? Might draw more attention to the artists name to have it prominently displayed on front and back.

Food for thought when she wants to do another run of business cards

I think they're very good. Handsome examples of the Swiss School of graphic design - if you were aiming for that, you succeeded beautifully.

dnice use of type altho the Juxtaposition( why do all designers like using this word) is good i personaly feel the heirachy is hard 2 folow i asume the company name is not JANETZ NAILZ SPENDOR.and in fact JANETZ SPLENDOR NAILS. I reckon the average person would have trouble trying 2 decifer . I find with typeography jobs if i finalise the work and then dont look at it for 3 days i get a completly different feel when i look at it again. other than that the nail pilosh is a good idea and regardless of my nit picking I reckon it goes 2 gether realy well nice job

Hey yea juxtaposition is the word.

I have a friend who is Swiss and have seen several successful Swiss designs and books and sort of the style influenced me. This together with Japanese style taught me the art of presenting information. Still learning.

Final note: This is actually free work and I finished the card in an hour. Hah!

at first - i though it was a shame that the photo was not "just" a photo... but i'm getting used to it now.

Great work. Finally, something worthy of "showcase".

my personal opinion is that it would look better with a real photo, like someone already said, about typo,,i don't know, it looks trendy but a little bit forced.

C'mon, let's keep in perspective what it is...a card for a manicurist. It does quite well for its intended goal.

yeah it does, but this is a card for a manicurist not typography designer
it looks a bit predesigned, it's all i'm trying to say.
