Just to add: What does anyone think about using pop-up windows to display some content. I use them to display illustrations, but couldn't decide whether it was a bad idea as many people are using pop-up blockers.

Bad idea for usability reasons - and it looks better loading into the page anyway. Tighter I feel.

Neat little site you got there though.

Hi Joe, nice site.
Can I make some suggestions for improvement? If anyone disagrees with me, just say so.

Overall:------------------------------------
Maybe centre the Flash movie vertically.
Not sure about the brown text for the main body.
Rollover (dark outlines?) on the thumbnails might be good.
Maybe needs a bit of animation to warrant the use of Flash?

Portfolio:---------------------------------------
Id put smaller thumbnails on the left under the nav and use the space on the right for bigger screenshots. I just think you need to show a bigger screenshot for each project.

When you first go into the portfolio its not clear which project you are looking at (on the thumbails). Maybe make the border dark for the one that is selected? Needs clarity as to which project is being viewed.

-----

Thats the main points I can think of right now, what does everyone else think?

Let me know how it goes Joe.

The font's funky. Try 11px arial/helvetica, I don't know. Then again, it's personal preference.

Yeah. Verdana is funky. I mean, come on, it's not like that font was made for computer screens....

I am a real Tahoma lover of late.

Yeah I know it's just Verdana 9px, but it's still odd. To me it looks horrible with anti-aliasing turned on or off. Verdana's a nice font at 10 or 11px, but other than that it looks icky to me. Personal preference, anyway.

@andycogbill: Actually, Verdana was made for screen and print. So was Tahoma. I wish I could use Univers for all my stuff though, but not everyone has the Adobe OpenType Collection.
