You can do quite a bit with myspace actually. I took a day to completely overhaul mine, and if you were to look at it without looking at the URL, you wouldn't be able to recognize that it was myspace. The problem is that others are too lazy to figure out the layout (although I tried to lay it out somewhat similar to the old style) and have started to comment less and whatnot. It was a big waste of time basically, because all you get is people you don't know that well asking you if you'll do it for them.

I think the most i ever did to mine was change background colour and text using css.

I don't support this kind of thing but you can build your own networks at ning.com but be warned it's that easy to do I think everyone will have some network of some kind soon.

It's a case of why be a member of social network when you own a social network fad.
