My recent Start-up

Hello Everyone!

Just want to introduce myself. My name is Robert. I live in South Florida. I am new to web design. However, I've recently built a social website called
Bragoff.com and would like to know your HONEST opinion about the website in terms of idea, design, etc. Critique or some advice will be highly appreciated.

Thank you

you have a great layout, but something about the design seems off. the background (specifically the header and footer) look a bit weird, or it could be just the colors. other then that, fantastic!

maybe someone else feels the same way about it being a bit off, and elaborate

Ok where to start...firstly the choice of colours are awful, the bright sky blue is really off putting, it also looks like you have about 6 different shades of blue in there. I think the whole site, layout, colours, style looks very dated.

If I was with you I would simplyfy it a lot, choose two colours... maybe white for the background and colours that are subtle and not distracting. With a social site you want people to hang around for a while so it has be an environment that is pleasing to look at and that lets the content speak for itself.

I would also invest some time in changing your site from tables to one without tables as it hinders accessability. You have a huge problem if I increase the browser text size with content overflowing and your menu messing up.

I can see you have put a lot of effort into it and it must of taken a lot of time to code. I think a fresh new look is all that you need. Good luck!

first impressions:

re-do the logo, it's completely not working

the flash takes far too long to load. there must be something in there badly optimised, as i can see nothing that would require a preload

simplify simplify simplify... whats with you web designers nowadays, whys everyone so caught up in the "wordpress" fever? the page is fine, but the colour combination's not extremely nice. the site must be focused towards high bandwidth visitors, I suppose.
It doesnt take much time to load either. Aaaand I agree the logo's terrible.
keep it up!

I like the color scheme - reminds me of warm ocean waters. The flash piece underneath header and navigation is appropriate and nicely animated. It does, however, seem to dominate the page - both with the contrasting warm color scheme and the size.

I wish there was more margin used in the stacked boxes at page bottom. Also, the text in the 'what people are braggin about' section seems crowded. Overall quite nice.
