Putting together a .net tutorial site

Hi - I'm beggining to put all the scripts I've written over the past few years on a site. There's also going to be tutorials for web development and design.

WOuld be good to know what you all thought of it so far: Develop Design - John Loydall, ASP.NET web developer

Looks good. Im not liking the green background though. The site isnt mind blowing stylish but I suppose it doesnt need to be. I would probably remove the google ads from the right navigation bar as it looks cluttered.

Yeah - think I'll style the ads a bit more.. I think the design will evolve as I start to add more content...

Looks nice, clean.
Gray bar at the right is a little too dark I think.. Logo could be improved as well.

Thanks - the logo is pretty basic yeah - it's supposed to represent the 2 layers of what the site is about and also the 2 (or more) layers that should make up a web application...

Did that come accross? Or was it more "Hmm, this dude has 2 green squares for his logo" ?

it does kind of,but i dont think the logo really matters to much if the main purpose of the site is helping other people out

The background is so demanding of my attention that I fear going cross-eyed if I spend too long looking at your site.

Sorry, but it's impossible to see past the background - which is an oxymoron but hey ho.

Hmm - oh well, each to their own I suppose. I've seen many sites that use a darker background than the foregreground. It's not something that I'd consider a problem. It doesn't actually look too bright on mine - maybe your monitor is set up differently?

I never said your background was too dark. A dark background would sit in the background where it belongs. Your bright green background demands to be in the foreground - which is where the problem lies.

I don't doubt that it looks fine to you, but no doubt you've spent hours with it and have become used to it (subconsiously).

Making the background darker or less saturated would improve your site no end.
