Coming Soon Site for Client

Lily of the Valleys - Coming Soon

Customer isn't ready for full site yet, so I put this up... I hate it. I liked it when it was in my head, and I did exactly what I was thinking, but I don't like the way it came out... what would you have done differently?

bit boring,
the rounded edges dont work in IE
done different- dunno really not to much to work with, maybe done some thing more with the flower. use more of the flower in the body background and have it connect to the coming soon part?

I know it's not much to work with, but I don't really know what to do for a coming soon page... I guess that's what I'm asking.

Also, I don't know what you mean about the rounded edges not working in IE... I just checked in two versions and there's no problem.

If you hate it why not try some other stuff rather than get bogged down in fixing this one?

I suppose I'm out of inspiration working for this client... I thought this design was a good idea, but I don't know what went wrong.

It's a splashpage, is it real important? Just put some nice, big text saying the website's coming soon, and you're done.

This is what I do for coming soon stuff : Pixel Perfection

I dont see the point in doing more than that if you dont have a complete. Just add contact details etc. I would then just use the extra time to concentrate on building the actual site.

I agree, I wouldn't spend too long on a splash page, but if you're not happy i with it just make something really simple. I'd probably start with a white background, keep the body font, keep the flower, maybe pick colours from the flower for the text and logo colour. Should look nice.

I personally think more effort than that is required.

Well I only have a handful of people going on to that site so I think it wouldnt be very efficent of myself to create something fancy when I could spend the time creating the actual site - and its worked Ive created the new look of the site, with a full re working of CSS, HTML, PHP in less than a week. But if I had spent time fiddling with a "coming soon" screen then I wouldnt have got as far as I have so far. I dont know what other information you would dispaly then what I have displayed.

Cool. That's just my opinion.

Btw your site gives an error when I roll over your "projects" thumbnails.

also mate, the webdesign layout is exactly the same as your portfolio.

You are advertising your name at the bottom as a hyperlink, then when clicked it goes into a site looking pretty much identical except for color change?

Maybe you need to think out the box a little bit?

You're doing something wrong because I don't have a portfolio. I have a blog that I'm still working on, if that's what you mean... and they're nothing alike other than rounded edges.

yea blog, sorry pal thought it was going to be a portfolio.
Anyway, they are alike, u can tell that you have used the same design ideas for them both but slightly tweaked them.

The only trouble is I haven't at all... they share rounded corners, and that's about it. One uses a serif and a script, while the other is completely sans; one is one column, the other is two... I don't see much similarity at all, but then again, some people say google and yahoo look the same to them.
