first invoice draft
I´m sticking to the logo I already posted here because I´m actually sick and tired of fucking around with it and I want to have my own identity printed this century. A quick invoice mockup: http://aadamkurm.pri.ee/uploads/blankett.pdf I have to fit 2 more lines somewhere (the number of the invoice and the date). The "table" in the middle will probably extend to the right in the future so I left a wee bit free room. If you are going to comment first print it. |

Boo to pdf. Looks good printed, nice simple and clean. Only problem I see but may just be my printout is that the column "TEENUS" is a little to close to the papers edge. But i guess when you move it over to the right it will be ok then. |

whats wrong with it? Teenus is 24mm from the edge, thats too close? I will have to move everything to the right besides the most right column because it will probably be filed away and the binding might come a bit too close to everything but the second thought is: why do I care? The only time they see it is when I hand it over. |

Aye what would you use besides PDF? Hmm could you put some dummy information in? I'm struggling (mostly because I can't read it) to see how it functions. I'd bring the ident down in size, and bring everything in quite a bit from the edge, I know we live in a digital world now, but faxes still happen/dubious photocopies/printers unable to print to edges. And again personal thing, I'd bring the ident in line with all the addresses to put in a stronger sense of grid. (All this said, my own invoice is a throw together to be honest, I needed one faster than I could spend the time on polishing it to be a fantastic design, it does the job.) |

I suppose its ok it just feels too close to me, I would personally of centered all of the columns into the middle of the page. Also yeah I think the binding will definately be too close to everything. By the way I think your logo looks cool printed. Quote:
Because it opens up crappy Adobe Reader which continually wants to downlaod an update but wont bugger off. |

Wow harsh.. Hahaha sorry I love PDF I just cant stand how it opened up Adobe Reader which is screwed on my computer so sorry I should of said: "boo pdf for opening my stupid dumbass broken Adobe Reader on my computer that doesnt want to close its stupid update screen even if I click close a hundred times. But then you dont even want to update and stay at 0%" Yes I know all about pdf and its advantages and use of graphics, better printing, universal use, cross platform etc. I use PDF myself, just not on this computer. |

Yeah, it's too far left. Get it right, Aats, it doesn't cost you any extra. Shift the whole lefthand side shitarama another centimetre toward the centre. Logo looks like a million (and 75)! |

updates: http://aadamkurm.pri.ee/uploads/blankett2.pdf Dummy information added and everything aligned percisely. If anyone is interested of the grid: http://aadamkurm.pri.ee/uploads/grid.png Glad you guys liked the logo, I´m going to do a test run on a letterpress tomorrow and I´ll see if I´m going to scrap it or not. I was thinking about having the invoice printed at the local printers and mailing it if the client doesnt live in the same city. That would rule out all the shitty printers people might still have. And ofcourse, I can set all the additional info afterwards in InDesign very precisely and print it from my own laser printer. Well, another month living on mashed potatoes and tap water doesnt seem so horrible anymore considering the extra quality I would get - a white paper with slight satin texture with rich black text and graphics on it. mmmmm yummy... |

You know why I am in this graphic design business? Because I cant afford printing stuff on my own budget but my clients can. Unfortunately contracts aren´t very widespread in Estonia among freelancers and clients don´t see the point of it and the only personal printed material I can show my clients is the invoice. If anyone can suggest a nice typeface besides the DIN Mittelshrift I´m using now I can shell out 400$ (if I quit smoking ofcourse). It has to be curved and angled at the same time like my logo. |

Teenus, Kogus, Hind. Fucking Lord of the Rings names Things do line up, but I can't see a grid there? I mean, something like this: http://www.cvisual.com/graphics-tech...ookbook/p1.gif Information is too sparse and while I get the minimalist/whitespace aplenty approach, somehow it just seems dilluted? DIN is nice, but you'd probably need something with more than one weight. Might be my morning barely open eyes, so I am probably wrong. |

Haha, yeah, we have about 0,5 million dumb orcs who claim they want to go back to Orcshitland but still hang around here. Quote:
I derived the grid from the paper itself (1:1,14) And many of the guides are just for aligning stuff properly, I was too tired to clear the mess up. The typeface weights idea is good, I have to get the type hierarchy flowing too. Highway could work if the "a" in bold wouldnt be so darn tight and I would prefer OpenType typefaces. I printed out your latest invoice and the margins are much better then the first version. I think it looks good, you dont want to over complicate it for the client. Quote:
Ok if you actually read why I said "boo to PDF" then you might understand thatI was saying I hate that it opens a broken Adobe Reader on my computer, I like pdf as a format and use it myself. |

Do you call that grid because some of the random lines acutally line up with something? Not a fan of the final product either. I like clean and minimalistic stuff but that just looks a cheap and boring. Sorry! Last edited by superstoffe : 27-04-2007 at 08:14. |
