ok - another site crit please

This company's industry is all to do with the back end processing of credit and store cards, and I'm currently carrying out a redesign for them. I've set it up so that the top left section of the credit card frame can be a static or flash file. The top right bit will be randomly picked from a set of graphics pointing to other places within the site. Bottom left is for the main page information, and the bottom right is an imported news thread that they are insistent on having on the site.

I'm *reasonably* happy with it, but it needs to be presented to the board in the morning and could really do with a pair of fresh eyes looking at it.

Cheers in advance

Lee

It's nice Lee, quite nice indeed. Nice fresh blue, but I'd have an alternate colour in mind - just in case like a Wrigley's Green or something....I dunno (talking out my a$$ perhaps).

I'd like to see that banner animated though. Would be a very nice touch.

That green section stands out a bit too much for me. But then again you did say it is randomly picked.

Other than that it's nice. Good luck for tomorrow.

looking pretty good

I think that grey is a real let down - warm it up a little + you news items aren't the best - more detailing in there...

Thanks for the comments guys.

The corporate look of the company is very blue. A lot of the stuff that they put out is blue, blue, blue so I've had to try and keep the site in keeping with their existing literature. I think I'm pushing it by introducing grey(!).

I'll have a look at producing a few more of the random corners in different colours and see if they sit down on the page a bit more.

Limbo - when you say the grey is a let down, do you mean the faded edges and/or the text on the group company news? I wasn't sure about the grey on the dates, but I don't really want people to be too distracted when they land on the page from the main text and the top right banner.

And when you say the news items aren't the best, are you talking visually or content wise? I don't have a choice with the content as it is pulled directly from their group website...

Thanks again

Lee

the faded edges are a % of black - try adding a bit of colour to distinguish them form every other grey background...

+ the way the type hierarchy is organised for the news items could be improved.

Icons are nice, layout is good.

It looks good. Though the green does throw my eyes out of proportion.

also why is all the body type in bold?

Could cause you problems with emphasis and link text later on.

Content area needs some refining. Maybe add some icons, or other graphical detail. A lot of designs get really boring when getting to the content area (I know mines do, anyway), you need to keep up the interest after the shiny graphics.
