If you're going this minimal you need to pay a lot of attention to how all of the few elements relate to each other, and make sure that padding, bordering, etc. is freakin' perfect or people are going to be offput. For one thing, you really need that background to grow and shrink according to content. It either has to look like an intentional frame or people are going to wonder what's missing. When you have tall, skinny content, the composition also gets really weird. Think of a way so that everything will look OK regardless of dimensions. Perhaps a solution would be to use your horizontal layout with a Flash or Ajax gallery. Or maybe thumbnails with an AJAX previewer? The logo should also lead to the homepage when clicked. That's just a standard feature people are used to. |
