i need of your opinion

Hi everyone,
I've just joined and thought you folks could give me some constructive criticism on a design for my portfolio site. The two attachements below are of two initial designs I have for my blog page.

I think I've been staring at my monitor for too long cause I just can't decide if there any good?

Suggestions? /

Cheers

For me, that second one is quite annoying, because it throws at me all those bright blue and bright pink colors on a white background, mixed together with an overly dominating gray gradient on sides.

It is hard on eyes, frankly.

Regards.

looks a bit rushed - and those diagonals aren't retro just yet - so get rid

The first is nicer out of the two yet that blue is becoming a bit of a tad overused in my opinion, not that i can stop you using a colour.

Is this site going to have any graphics? I like the direction so far... but remember how heavy graphics can be on your design, so give us a few if that's how you foresee the content being.

I like the direction but I think you use diagonal lines a bit excessively. Consider removing some of the diagonal backgrounds and I think it will help. The dimensions are also very small -- how do you foresee this scaling on a 1280x1024 or 1680x1050 screen?

(Oh yeah, I like the first one)

Thanks for the feedback guys I really appreciate your suggestions. I think I 'll try look at possibly using a different colour from the blue and now that it's been pointed out... The diagonals lines are a bit overused.

Cheers folks

First 1 for definate. I like the white background and the use of only 1 colour. Also I like the fact the it all fits on the page and you don't have to scroll down.

Yeah, I agree... just not sure if it's the right colour choice. What is it with these diagonal lines... I'm sick to death of seeing them!
