Are you following that one-page-folio trend?
I don't think it really suits this purpose.

Those bevel/embosses aren't a real turn-on either.

Yeah thats are rather dodgey thing to state with the counter at the bottom of the page!!

Still, not everyone is a web designer by trade, if anything, buy yourself some web design books, or just get a couple of copies of net. & web designer magazine, take a look at examples and tutorials and you could be on your way.

Put your best foot forward. Make the best parts of your site easy to find.
