My First CSS/HTML Site...

...with a bit of wordpress thrown.

ive just started to attempt to learn a bit of css and html. whilst producing myself a portfolio site.

attached are two photoshop layouts of how i intend the homepage and work section to look. so some opinions on these layouts would be useful.

the work section can be viewed online here http://www.paulburrows.com, ive still some work to do on it, as ive hit some problems with the image positions for each post. but comments on the code etc would be good.

i have just noticed that it doesnt look right on a pc, not a clue why!!

cheers

Looks fine on the mac at my school ( safari ), you should place some dummy images at your coded version though. Check it out on a pc when i get home

I like it!

hmmm, yeah, on my PC it doesn't look the best. The font is far too small and I have to enlarge to see it. Nice layout though!

Reminds me of Khoi Vinh's website.

It does, but it's also a very "graphic designer-y" type design. Inspiration, I'd say.

Text is teeny tiny. Can't read it.

I like the mockups, though.

i think the text is tiny when viewed on a pc, seems fine on a mac. not sure why thats happening.

thanks for the comments.

is it too much like Khoi Vinh's site? im looking at reworking the header and menu so hopefully that will make it look less like it.

The text is small in IE 6 on PC. In FF it looks fine.
You need to change this in your CSS
Quote:
html, body {font-size: 62.5%;}

to
HTML Code:
html {font-size: 62.5%;} body {font-size:1.2em (or whatever size you want)}

you may need to alter your #content font-size as well.

It looks fine to me. You shouldn't need to change it as there is only a slight a similarity (in a good sense) with K. Vinh's site

I like it, nice clear layout idea; it's a little like the layout of a friend on mines' site KINKINERD.COM

But yeah, be good to see what work youve got going into it!
