Any decent artist needs to have some mastery of their chosen medium... What if Rembrandt never bothered learning how to paint? Anyway, I'll let you get back to your shouting... |

Of course a knowledge of photoshop is needed, but not over creativity - the paint medum is the message, meaning a demand to know how to paint - you need to know the brushes because of it tactile nature - whereas good design doesn't call for photoshop expertise more than it calls for creativity. Only photoshop knowledge coupled with creative knowledge is any good. |

Either sincerity is clouded on the internet, or you really are a dolt. I meant every single bit of what I just said. If you wanna try to "catch me" on it to avoid admitting that maybe you did indeed misread my post and took it the wrong way, then go right ahead. Not like I give a fudge. Whatever gets ye off the roid-rage. I'm not the one here pissing gasoline in the fire. I've already said what I needed to say, and I've told you what I meant by it. If you seriously do think it was a real bash at your work, despite the fact that I've several times it's not, then whatever. My lunch break is over, so I gotta run back. Enjoy the rest I guess, cat out... |

I honestly have no clue wtf your problem is Pat. Brush the chip off of your shoulder. You said your peace with your initial post and should've left it at that. I saw it, didn't reply b/c it was your opinion. I replied after you felt the need to run your mouth some more by knocking my work. If you don't like it, fine. I'm not here to impress you. I like the piece, I'm happy with it. I like the way it looks, most others do to. If you don't like a style keep it to yourself, it's not helping the artist/designer one bit. |

I didn't have one until people started talking rubbish about cloaking your opinions, and going off on tangents to poo poo unrelated work. The only way i knocked your work was to say it was boring, for me obviously. We'll all want to defend our work, and yours shows good use of photoshop but i see nothing else that attracts me, just my opinion. |

just for the record i didn't slate it I asked a valid question about what is it's purpose? I never mentioned if the bloke had talent or not, i never said i did or didn't like the work. And when I say don't bother I mean it, it's pointless sticking some half arsed work up and expected for people to crit it unless it has some point. I wouldn't have the balls to showcase some of the crap thats being shown on here recently, and it's a waste of everyones time to click on a link and explain to people why it's shit. Maybe they should read about the subject before posting stuff whats facebook?

I don't think there was anything for you to get defensive about here cantona. Sorry you think I half assed it, definitely wasn't the case seeing as I took the time to hand paint the textures myself, scan them, clean them up etc. Some people act as if I downloaded the textures as PS brushes and slapped them on there. Oh well, to each their own. From here on out I'll just be sure only to post my best work for the Designerstalk Gods to give their opinions on. Back to work. |
