Visualise - Free Image Hosting - ALPHA TESTING - XHTML/PHP/CSS

Hey there,

This post is rather long so we've decided to split it up a little using subtitles and images to make it more user friendly. Basically, we want you to evaluate our latest website; www.visualise.biz and comment on it in every way possible.

What is Visualise?

Visualise is a free, simple image hosting solution. It can be used to share pictures with family and friends, as well as to post images on message boards and blogs. It can also be used to direct link images on websites and online auctions such as myspace, eBay, livejournal, blogger, etc. You can also show your images to friends and family using AOL Instant Messenger, ICQ, IRC, Windows Live Messenger, etc. With a variety of linking options available; thumbnails, hotlinking, etc. Visualise is by far the best free image uploader available!

Who made/runs/owns Visualise?

Visualise was made by Mitch and myself over the course of a few weeks, which did actually lead to a few months. Visualise is also run and moderated by Mitch and myself. The entire website was coded by Mitch and myself making it unique and flexible.

How does Visualise generate revenue if it's free?

Visualise relies on revenue created by the advertisements placed on our website both by Google and private advertisiers.

Can I advertise my site on Visualise

Sure, please visit this page for more information.

What is Alpha Testing?

Visualise is currently in Alpha Testing as it has only just been released and is probaly unstable and vunerable. Therefore it needs to be evaluated and improved before a proper public release. Visualise can only be improved with the help of you! We aim to make Visualise unique and better than its competitors such as ImageShack, etc.

What should I do?

Basically, we want you to comment on our site truthfully but constructively. If you hate it then tell us - but at least tell us how to improve it. We welcome you to comment on everything!

Can I help?

Yes! Please start using Visualise as your free image uploader and help spread the word.

I have a question?

Further information is also available via our FAQ page, please read this and if your question remains unanswered then please post here, thanks.

Thank you for reading and we look forward to you using and evaluating Visualise!

Latest Added Feature: You can now integrate the Visualise uploader into your own web site, allowing your visitors to upload images using Visualise.!

Yeah good idea, is there any way for me to cover myself as I coded the site myself with a friend and don't want it to be stolen and reused?

PS. Not saying my codes worth stealing but you know :P

I find the site fairly bland looking, and you're entering a market where there's already a number of VERY big players.

The logo doesn't do anything for me. Hatching? please...

Try to put some...life into it. Make it more exciting and inviting. (go rhymes!)

It looks like a template to me. sorry, but am i alone in this thinking?

edit:
I think it would be worse to release an unsecure site and have some script kiddy wreck it, than to risk losing the code to some moron. If someone needs to steal code for a few basic functions that your site does perform, I doubt they would be able to take it very far.

Perhaps you could go totally opensource, and thus accept other's opinions to improve the code and the site as a whole - you will probably want to stay in Beta testing for awhile once you think you have a secure build.

Once you have an audience, it would be easy to spot people stealing your code.
Thanks for the advice Luke, I think I'll do the latter option and release the source code under some type of lisence and stay in BETA for a while till I feel satisfied the code is safe.

Yeah I agree the site is fairly bland, but look at my competition, eg, Imageshack, they have an even blander looking website. And remember, people who are uploading images want very short load times, etc. I agree with you on the logo, it does need adjusting majorly.
