kcdbox - my portfolio

I'm new graduate in graphic design, just made this site last week and looking to improve. Any constructive criticism welcomed.

I'm just not really digging it...the feel is just very bland. The rounded corners are fuzzy, font is pretty boring, content positioning is just...awkward. The work in the actual foli looks more like it was done by a photoshop hobbist rather then a GD draduate. Sorry bud, just trying to be honest/helpful.

Man I hate giving out feedback like this.

Goodluck dude, if you really want it, no reason you can't be good in time.

Nice, uckc. Overall, I like it, but it's not without its problems.
  • I don't care for the italicized headings. Maybe try a secondary font? Also, on fonts, the homepage uses a serif and the rest use sans. Perhaps you should just pick one body font?
  • Seems to have some strange leading issues. First line of the portfolio page, for example.
  • I think those hosting buttons need to be redone. At least anti-alias the text in some way.
  • Forms. They could look better the default form fields are ugly.
  • Code. Could stand some modernizing. XHTML/CSS. Table-less. Standards-compliant. You know the drill.
Otherwise, I think it works.

How would you know? You're 17. And it's much better than yours.

Eh, you can't even go through one thread without getting into who's "better" then who? This ego problem is getting serious bud.

If you don't like me, that's fine. I don't remember comparing you to other people in your portfolio thread. I merely shared my thoughts on your work like you requested, and I simply didn't happen to like any of it. I expected abit more maturity then this, I mean I'm the 17 year old here.

My apologies to uckc, and will let him get on with his work.

The copyright notice should be more seperate from the rest of the content. Adjust the padding on the right side, as it sits too close to the edge. And why the border around the contact form?

I submitted an empty form (yet again) and the error messages came back in French, although I was in the english version.

pgo knows his shit and always beats me to it. everything he says above. Only thing i would add is that the rez quality of the stock photos are a bit low. (is that just me?) also watch your spelling and grammer. Otherwise I think its a dope site and works well.

on a side note lets not start a whos better then who flame war. All I can say is that you would be suprised at how many sites come out of a 4 year graphic design major that are cut from image ready and poorly put together. its really sad actually. but i guess its hard to learn everything

No one's trying to (not me, at least). I just felt that a condescending "critique" deserves to be commented on.

i kinda like the background -
but it looks a bit too 'prominent' with how small the wrapper is in the centre.. it kind of diverts my attention from what im supposed to be looking at.. perhaps make it a little bigger?

not too keen on the vertical text on the nav either but thats just me - i dont like to 'think'!

As above really, love the site but some of the pages need some work. The hosting page needs to either go, or be redone as its horrid..

I wish i was 17 !

Have to agree with Megaton Cat, works just not up to scratch and the site's lacking polish.
