Right, not really a designer. But I have a few ideas and often have a thrash on CS2 to get a few of them in a visual form. This design, i'd like a few people to have a look and see what they think. Basically, its a mock of the way i'll want the website to look. http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v4...ever/field.gif Things can differ, just wanted to actual concept all down and right. |

mmmm - I like the background but not much else. The scrolling profolio idea is a little dated. Why don't you try shifting your navigation to the top and make it horzontal rather than vertcial and lose the chunky menu borders. You don't need much if you just use that bg image - imagine - a nice logo at the top along with a simple text menu and a good bit of intro blurb (watch the typography though). Other pages could simple be a white box overlay on the background with simple layouts. As you are just starting out I would keep it VERY simple. I think you need to read up on basic composition and typography first though. |

Then start by looking up "typography" on Del.icio.us and read all the articles you can absorb on the subject. Play with it a bit and when you think you can get no better..... look up "color" and start again. Really "being a designer" is the easist thing in the world to lay claim to, but much MUCH harder to actually achieve. Layout (aka "visual architecture") is not the place to start at all. |
