presenting AllYourDucks.com - beta testing

hey - i'm opening up this app incrementally. after the friends and the famous people who aren't interested, i turn to my favorite forum (i created a new user for this post, so don't be put off by the glorious "1 post" on my profile).

here's the official invitation.

# # #

my little web development company, gelform, has decided to take another step into the web app world, this time for selfish reasons. keeping track of clients, projects, payments and hours was getting away from me, and the tool i'd used previously was over engineered. so i set out to build something quick and easy, and figured i may as well open it up to everyone.

http://www.allyourducks.com

if you visit the homepage at the moment, it gives a little write-up and a screen shot. take a look, and if you're interested in beta testing, sign up for an account here:

http://www.allyourducks.com/beta.asp

(using the form on the homepage will only put you on the list to be notified when it's actually public). i'd love to get your thoughts, ideas and bugs you encounter.

lastly, i need help with promotion. the more folks we get on the site, the more feedback we get, and the better the app becomes. so, once we get you into allyourducks.com, if you think i'm on the right track, any help you can lend in spreading the word is appreciated - blogs, forum mentions, tea parties, what have you. this project is launching on a shoe-string budget, so word-of-mouth is our best friend. you'll have my infinite gratitude and will be happy to return the favor in whatever way i can.

please forgive the uninvited email and thanks for your time,

corey

I signed up but get an equal amount of 500 errors and confusion. you might want to do a round or two of closed testing before posting invitations on forums. You'll end up losing more interest than you gain. good luck though.

I believe you spelt beleive wrong on the gelform site too.

Nice idea, but:

Very confusing interface.
I couldn't edit a description of a project after entering it.
I couldn't add info into quotes.
Could do with dropdowns to select projects etc.

Needs more polish.

thx for that. what browser/platform? i'll retest the things you mentioned. in lieu of the drop down, there's an autocomplete-style menu that should pop-up. you didn't see that?

thanks again,

corey

FF win

Don't seem to always get the pop.

I think it probably needs some text to tell you what to do. The interface is not intuitive enough for no explanation.

Should it not fill in the company details if you select the project?

yeah, i agree about the directions. or a tutorial or something. good idea.

if you create a new project, and select a client, is should insert the company name automatically. if you add hours to a project, it should autofill the client name, etc. i'll check on that.

thanks!
