Rough ideas for a Craft Exhibtion ID

Hi Folks,

Hope all is coolio?

I am working on an ID for a craft exhibition organiser called 'make it' (I suggested they rename the company from 'You Can Make-it')

Background: 'make it' are a craft suppliers show organiser that deal with all aspect of hobby craft (ie card making, scrapbooking, rubber stamps, knitting and stitching, embelishments etc)

Aims: To produce a refreshed ID, that represents us as a forward company keeping up with market trends that puts the visitor first, while not being too progreesive that the visitors are alienated.

Demographic: Mostly female of all ages with a particular focus on the latter end of the age scale. (think mothers/women with time to persue a hobby)

I have a brief as a pdf if you wanna see it.

Right these are still rough as a badgers ass, the type used is the kinda direction I wanna take these, but yes they all need work and all need loads of refining and general work big stylee, but hopefully it will give you an indication of the direction they are going.

This is the existing logo...

These are my roughs...

have one of your pencil sketches as the logo, maybe 1? It looks more relevent for a craft based event

All good (last has a bit too much coke in it like)

The first is best IMO. I'd work them all up in illi and see what looks best in B&W

Yeah my feelings were coke, but that will all change, it is just a face that I could use that gives a human feel that I could incorporate the cover swash with, hence my post in the type forum asking for suggestions that you may have used successfully before.

Who knows that could turn into a friendly serif?

My main feelings after the rough sketches were that going down a craft based route might not be the best solution, as I would be instigating that only the specific craft visualised in the mark would be the only one at the show, I really wanted evoke feelings, like the inspiration of the first and the friendly security of the last, or the cleanliness/efficiency of the third...

Who knows, what do you reckon?

I knew that would come some time down the line.

Yeah looked at that, but didn't wanna exclude any other hobby-ists.

I have proposed an idea that uses 4 logos (all the same) all based on crafts, cut coloured paper, stitched, glittered, buttons, stamped etc the list goes on. Maybe a bit risky, but certainly would breathe life into it.

What do ya reckon.
