my main objective was to build my own shopping cart (thus improving my php skills), do a css / tableless site and just have a stable clear shopping environment without looking to boring.

the top banner is'n finished & stretched out/maybe i'm doing a totally different one
there still some info which needs to be updated.
i need to clean up my css code & validate it.

but i'm interested if you think it looks & works allright.

Looks okay, not too sure about the colour scheme, bit dull. Three things though:

1) Any reason for having 50-odd colons in your page title? They look daft + outdated, and aint exactly SEO friendly, even if that isnt one of your major considerations.
2) What is the site about? I had no real clue as to the point of the site till I found the tiny 'about' link stuck away in the right hand column.
3) Perhaps this is because its a work in progress, but your breadcrumb menu doesn't link to anything, and there's no homepage link.

myeah, personally i don't think it's that dull. and i'm sure a bit more color in the banner would help. i'm just worried it might be too dark.

1) it's just some filler thing, didn't really think about it & i didn't realise they were seo unfriendly
2)the banner should point that out. the page title also says mailorder. it will be advertet like that too. so i'm guessing that people who visit the site, know why they're there
3)yeah, that's one of the things i still need to build. i'm not even sure if i'm actually going to, because there are not that many sublevels etc.... the 'NEWS' link points to the homepage. but if that's unclear, i'll change that.

Only one thing, why is the navigation section not black like the other boxes? Instead it has 2 lighter bands above and below.. Personally I would keep things flowing throughout the design.. Add more lighter bands, or remove them and make it black.. Only my opinion though, and I would be shocked if I was correct :P

edit: also, maybe its just my eyes, but the top banner looks a little low quality (diffusion around the white strands).

not too keen on the header graphic, but overall I quite like the muted colours and more importantly the site looks professional enough that I would feel comfortable buying from it.

yeah, that's because i'm still working on it, and i stretched this one to fit the dimensions of the banner/top i had before. just temporarily. i'm gonna add more colour to it too.

i like the site......works well. Over all simple and easy to use. I would add a little spacing on the right side between the sections of the navigation , search , etc just seems a little smooshed together. And the header graphic again I think should change. overall nicely done.

dude - the colour scheme's better than anything i could concoct, and i'm far from willing to say i don't like the site, but the header's what needs to be changed, you're right about that - something brighter than the rest of the site to improve the contrast and make the site a lot more standout.

one thing - was pretty pissed i couldn't see a larger pic of the mashnote shirts! =P

I think it's ok, it's not a 5 star award site (sorry mate) but it is good nonetheless. I'm not sure on the primary colour - not my thing but again it's subjective to the designer mostly.

I would perhaps try a lighter green and make the content text larger by half a point (or ems) as the colour doesn't really lend itself to legible small text in my opinion.

that' somewhat updated

i've uploaded a sketch of a new banner idea.
although i'm not 100% convinced it's in the good direction

i think i'm going to make the title color a bit brighter, but i'm gonna stick to the colors overall. it's just my kinda palette i guess.
