Designers of Norway

Hi. I'm currently working on my newest project, DoN. It's gonna be a society for norwegian designers of all types. I want comments & critics on the first page layout. I'm not sure if it's a bit of mess, so tell me. Positively comments are welcome to!

It's a work in progress, so everything is not done yet. I need c&c to continue working on it.

It's abit odly spaced out, and I don't get the point of the repeating banner at the top. The blue box also has...too much blue in it.

Sorry, it looks like it has some eye-candy (I especially like the logo) but site overall looks awkward.

Needs some editing, then could be goood.

I think it looks awkward because it doesn't stick to a recognizable grid system.

Are the hovers on the black/grey navigation buttons supposed to fill the entire box or is the black space on the right intentional?

Might look better with something in #additionalInformation.

Don't know what's up with the dark stripe at the bottom of the background either. Or the banner at the very top of the page.

I disagree with Megaton regarding the blue box. If any site needed a bit of whitespace, this is it.

I agree, with some work it could look sick..

Thats looking quite good, but as mentioned above it needs a bit of work. I could probably ponint at stuff like the fact that it needs to be filled out and that it needs some sort of ending, but I'm sure we'll see some developments in those areas in any case. The login areas is perhaps a bit large and needs something to fill its emptyness. I guess you can do some featured work or something like above once you get things started or perhaps some links. just text with a few variations would work as well. Megaton mentioned something about blue and perhaps the reason being the box I imagine.. but I'm also looking at the menu to the right.. it could do with some coloring. A suggestion here would be to reuse some of the colors in the logo, as it looks excellent but could brighten up the rest of the design by shareing its colours. Keep us updated on the progress, I joined here just to comment on this actually. The reasoin being I'm Norwegian and wouldnt mind seeing such a site So "Hello everyone".. and keep it up.

as pgo pointed out the grid system is too complicated and making the design look untidy - try and line things up. The stunted right column with the blue navs is also making the site look unbalanced - like its going to topple over.

There's some nice aspects about the site but the positioning and design composition of your elements look awkward. Not necessaily too much but more so perhaps not best arranged.

The nav on the right looks particularly odd (when viewed in FF). Was this on purpose? If so you've achieved nothing by it apart from downgrading your site in my opinion.

I think the first thing he needs to do, no matter what, is fix the grid (or lack thereof).
