New member on board

Hi everyone,

My name is Rob, and I'm a web designer. This forum seems to have some skilled people (and not just a bunch of damn kids making photoshop/3d abstracts), so perhaps we can work to each other's benefit. Since this is the showcase, I'll go ahead and put up my site for you to look at, even though it's about 4 years old and I hate it now. So critique away!

I don't like when sites make people download things in order to view your site, if I didn't already have it I would have just left. I always suggest that people make a duplicate HTML version aswell and let people choose.
Other then that it is a nice, site, I don't really like the red, I don't think it flows with the orange, maybe try a different tone of red. I don't really like the navigation either, but the content area is very nice.

its functional and it works well considering your portfolio work. Sure its not "trendy" with vector art and a wooden background. But it works

Well, it's trendy in the sense that he's talking about - Photoshop kiddies making their forum sigs and nasty ImageReady sliced sites for their Counter-Strike clans.

No offense mind you. It just looks outdated and template-y.

What's with the name "armor art"? I don't get it.

it's from a comic book. It's the kind of martial arts you use against robots.

get rid of all the containers and red and shiny stuff and just leave the tables and chairs there on a completely white background, with your links in a light grey with rollover states/colours that refelct those already used.. Then it won't look so shit.

are you a damn kid?

(sorry, but I just don't go for abstracts. I just feel design should have purpose, and they just look like "art for art's sake".)

'art for art's sake' is entertainment. i like entertainment. i like 'art for art's sake.'

overall, I think your site's design takes too much attention away from your work. I think it would be better a little simplier.

Nope, I'm not a "damn kid". That's not all I do, but I enjoy making my "art for arts sake".
My site's in my profile.
