I think you need to increase the left and right spacing for the body text within the archway - it's too close at the moment. Perhaps you could lighten the background just a little more to increase the contrast with the text too.

Not sure what you're doing with the 'home' heading and the text immediately below it. You're introducing yet another typeface. I'd lose that altogether. Not a huge fan of the type you've used for the top level links either.

The home with the blurb under it will be a desicription of that particular page...that was a client-side decision... not mine

Honestly, I don't think it's much of (if any) improvement. That black...hole window thing is really distracting.

I think what Illvibe is saying is that if its to be there at least make it the same font as the rest of the body text (possibly slightly larger)... I agree that at the mo it looks out of place

Yeah..thats what I meant. If the client wants it, then by all means. Just in its current form it's making things look a bit confused using yet another new typeface and with no real positional relationship with anything else on the page.

Only a slight improvement to be quite honest - but with some of the above adjustments I 'm sure the difference will be more noticeable.

Using that archway as your frame is a bit constricting, I think. Not a whole lot you can do about it though.
