More Projects from Work

Quote:
Anyhow, in my job, part of it is to create mockups, and implement webpages into their Applications which "code"/create the website for you.. (GRRR... No more CSS for the summer! ) So, I have this mockup which I acutally like. Now I like for you all to go crazy with it. However, I have some limitations.

Their System:

1) Cannot do borders (generally around the main part of the pages)
2) No dropshadows
3) Inflexible when it comes to coding CSS or like PHP, etc...
4) Forced to have a left side that extends to 100% height... So no gradients vertically, basically forces you to use solid colors... And a NUMBER of other things I haven't discovered yet

Heh, I'd rather use CSS, but then again this system is used for coporations not for small timers like me

^From my old Post

I think I posted in the wrong section last time...

I have to say I really liked my end result, so thanks guys once again! However, I have another project, same rules, same sorta client. Academy Partners is a IT company like Bison Technology. I have this mockup, but I'm not as happy with it as I was with Bison...

Any suggestions?

BTW Two more rules I found

The site has to be 773 px wide
The left menu bar has to be 153 px wide and the main content bar has to be 260 px wide

The typeface is kinda blah and its kinda plain as a whole. I guess its gotta be a clean easy site from the clients point of view. The layout works for me as a whole.

Well, question for you, what fonts do you normally use for web? I usually either use Verdana since I think it looks nice and everyone has it, on pictures I like Gil Sans, and somethings I try Tahoma, or something like that

First thing that hits home is the size of the fonts... way too big for my liking.

The greys in the navbar and the main bg dont work at all in this context and the logos are way too close together... give them some space

I'm thinking blues, but I can't find any good colors that match... And what for the menu?
Updated the text and some colors

I'm inclined to agree the grey nav does not work at all...

Poor typo, and the layout of elements feels abit loose too. I'd go for a stronger colour scheme and some smaller details too.

First off, the type is way too big and the placement seems odd, kind of like thrown together. I'm talking about the text elements on the page. Nothing aligns anywhere and it just looks loose and off.

Plus you wont be able to use that anti-aliased font on the text in the web page, so what's the point of using it in the mockup?

Oh, And I would reconsider the line height on the main text.
