Heavy metal site design
My friends have asked me to do them a simple website for their Heavy metal band called "The Space Between" - i'm doing it for free, as the poor bastards have no money. If you can help me get the ball rolling, as i am not a designer and always miss the little things that really make a site. i spent an hour throwing this together, using metallica photos...as the poor bastards have no camera either. They'll obviously be changing. :P For now, the prep stage, it's just an image. For the real thing however, it'll be css with xhtml. Any ideas at all...will be greatly appreciated. thanks everyone THE SPACE BETWEEN |

I'm not a big fan of heavy metal or the visual style that is associated with it. However, this certainly fits the bill. It looks like it was thrown together, but as you said: it was. I'd lose the rounded corners for one as they're softer and I don't think soft is what you're going for. Also, I'd lose the curved grey border as I feel it's detracting from the rest of the page. The gradient heading background on the left column (profiles) looks tacky over that skull. It just doesn't work for me. Also, when you're building it pay particular attention to spacing your page elements - padding, margins, and leading are all your friends. Also, if you can find a different Metallica-esque font that'd be great. |

That's the Motley Crue font, I think you'll find .... not very cutting edge - more 1980's LA glam rock ... so you might wanna find something a bit more up to date .. ? and what pgo said .... fuck signatures

i agree. i had another Metallica-esque font, but it was ugly as hell. 1001 fonts, here i come. unless there is a better site for decent fonts? Last edited by 2Dfruit : 04-07-2006 at 10:07. |

obviously it depends on just how 'heavy metal this band is but I'd suggest something more like: http://www.dirtyprettythingsband.com/ kind of dirty without being even slightly 'Def Leppard' |
