critique of a mockup design- Listening Group

Hey guys,

I'm trying to finish up a mockup design for a client. Here is the mockup

mockup

I'd really like to snazzy up the design a bit with more design elements but unsure as to what and where. The client wanted a minimalist look to the site with warm soft muted colors. It's a basic brochure site so I think I achieved the right color scheme and look, but could always use more insight and advice from veterans on how to "go the extra mile" ,if you will. Suggestions on design elements, and layout would help. thanks.

Hmmm. No offense, but it doesn't look like any time was spent on this. It's a banner with a horizontal navigation list and a chunk of text...

none taken. i'm new to design. any advice would be welcomed. the client did say that he wanted a sort of minamalist look to it as well

current challenges that I see is lack of design elements. There is alot of white space as well.

I'm going to move the banner up, if not increase the size of the banner.

Id say cut the banner down, add a fancy border to it. Also work with the text, right now it doeslt look very good, It looks stretched and pixelated. Also change the color scheme it will really help out your design alot.

Anyway, have a quick read about grid systems:

That series of five articles should give you a basic understanding. Color scheme is fine, as far as I'm concerned. I would definitely remove the whitespace above the banner as it looks like a mistake.

Actually, I was kinda wondering why as well? I understand pretty borders will spiffy up the site, but is it really necessary for a business like this? It's targeted towards other business professionals and families.

I've improved things a wee bit with the new version

I increased the banner height and did some minor contrast.

Color schemes can always be adjust later in accordance to the needs of the client. I was more concerned about layout and design elements.

Thanks.
