Visionary - Print job!
Hi folks, thought I would post this, it has gone off for the second proof so can still take on crits. It is a newsletter for the International federation of Guide Dogs, and will be sent to the various offices they are affiliated with around the world. I have loads of space on this one as the input/stories was pretty sparse, so I thought I would try and break away from the normal 'cluttered' look they have (just your average run of the mill looks like the seceratary done it in word newsletter) and try and use the white space to my advantage. Oh yeah on page 10 (the one opposite the magnifying glass) the gradients in Illy have rasterized a little strange in PS, well it has been replaced with the flat colour, can't be arsed at the mo to sort it as I am under the kosh here today. Will replace that image when I have some more time... ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() ![]() |

Yeah a lot of the stuff that goes out is also reworked or specifically designed for large print, but this job is just for the offices that provide the services, hence large print not being needed. |

Pedge, it quite easy if they aren't rolling a doobie. Stevo, nah not indesign, if I said Quark... ...4.1... I know, I know, sad but true, but I don't have rips for OSX, so I do the bigger multi page jobs on the G4 in OS9.2. Just means that I know everything is gonna be A OK, and I don't want any problems coming back on me with the bigger jobs, once bitten twice shy. |

Indesign CS2 is pretty good - I use it all the time now and only use Quark now and then if forced. At the end of the day its the design skill that matters and not what tools you use - your design skills shine through on this job. I remember the days when putting a bevel on something in Photoshop took 15 minutes or so to do maually (using masks, expand, contract, blur, new channels etc) and nowadays any monkey with Photoshop LE can do it with the click of a mouse - but does a free/cheap program automatically give you good design skills? Nope... |

I have been told they look like bollocks from elsewhere, gonna do a bit of digi surgery there Fin. Good spotting sunshine. I was a bit worried that the doc is somewhat static. I really wanted to keep it conservative and clean, but not sure if it is too conservative therefore making it bland? |
