CSS Smugpants
Hello All, Been busy rebuilding my site in CSS. Couple of little table sections still hung over from the old site and some of the content includes need rejigging to suit the narrower text area. What do you think so far? http://www.datahound.co.uk/index.php |

It's clean and effectively communicates what you do. However the layout and content feels unbalanced, particularly with the footer where it is. I would re-jig the layout to make the search a more prominent feature which will draw in people to use the site as at the moment it looks like you have to primarily have to call to find the parts you need. also the search results need to be laid out better, even just bullet points would help. by no means bad, but could be better. |

Thing is it is a business site, so cannot be too radical. (Can't have black text on a black mouseover block, tsk!) Also start pulling about too much could upset the search engines. Well at least it is CSS now, you guys made me paranoid. Hopefully get another Google point next time around. Sulks off stage left.. |

Have you thought about investing in a new logo ? It puts me off - looks like clipart Couple of comments - text needs some line spacing and I wouldnt justify it, eg this page is hard to read : http://www.datahound.co.uk/refurbishedspareparts.php |

Thanks all, I will unjustify myself. Trouble with logos is I never find one I like and I don't like asking people to try and then not pay them when they don't come up with anything that suits. Tried it once. Can anyone suggest verbal concepts for a suitable logo? I like the detective thing because that's kind of what I do, or of course there is the dog angle. Any suggestions welcomed. If you want to put something together on spec I will pay for it if I like it. See there I go again. |

As an example of an idea/concept... I'd suggest its not far from yours (not your current logo but the thinking behind it). Any GD could recreate a modern version of this type of thing but I quite like the style of it (personal preference) |
