Suggestions Needed.

I'm putting together a site and am currently working on the design and layout. Every time I look at it, I'm never all that satisfied, but I don't know what else to change. I'm having ... designers block. Any suggestions would be appreciated.

How can I improve the current design?

It's going to be a social networking type site. I'd rather keep its contents and function under wraps right now.

yea it's not like it looks bad it just looks pointless lol. I think the design should come from the sites purpose and background not just a templated site with content thrown in.

Would just like to ask - do you NEED to have google ads on the bottom as well as the side?

posting what looks like ten minutes work, with no content nor any idea what the site is going to be (other than 'social networking') and asking for feedback.

what a clever idea

like the top. if you can, ditch the ads on the bottom. just looks like a blob down there. do something similar to the top for the footer. other than that, not really much to analyze. throw some stuff in the empty space and play with arrangement. you may have some design ideas pop up then.
