Photography website

Hi lads,

Could you comment on a header I've been working on for a photography website?

www.keet.co.uk

Cheers!

no no no.

sorry but I don't like it as a concept and everything's far too out of focus. not good for a photographers website surely. wants to be crisp, clean, and showing off the photos not some blokes hand.

The photo's will be displayed within the content...

He wants a unique header... he likes the idea of the hand, but wanted your guys opinions. I'll look into the focus thing!

I don't really mind the overall concept you have, I just don't think it works for a photographer. Like smallbeer said, the focus should be the photography and nothing else. If you are going to use graphics like that, try to use only the photographer's work and nothing else. If that hand is a stock photo, a visitor to the site may be mislead to think that the photographer actually shot that piece of photography, which may or may not end up being a good thing. Scrap the idea and start over!

I liked it, the cut out where the hand meets the film is a bit rough would be my only criticism.

If the customer likes it go with it, do not waste the work you have done so far. After all it is theirs and your opinions that count.

Ok thanks for the comments. I do agree that it does need to be crisp and simple.. although the photographer really likes the design, which is the idea he drew down himself.

Will take another look at what I can improve.

Less hand, more photograpy. Film strip right up in face...thumb and forefinger holding it on either side. It is a cool idea, but I wouldn't use it for a portfolio.
