You spend too much time on re-designing the thing. I'd say it's ok for now. Move on

nice yeh,but i still don't understand why you tell prospective clients what they want/need instead of giving them a nice design portfolio. I wouldn't sign you up with no examples of work.

fair point; Truth is I have only been studying web development for almost a year, so i only have 2 sites under my belt this being one of them. So maybe a way around this would be a "CASE STUDY" of the other site? any ideas? or just "LATEST WORK"? or maybe "featured project" ?

Thanks for comments, Tony

Just stick em on a portfolio page and explain that more's on the way. Don't say "i've only been doing this malarkey for 2 years" mind. I reckon "Case Studies" would just confuse people.

In all fairness this isn't that much of a problem, a portfolio is not mandatory - the site itself is an indication of the quality of the work and it's acceptable to ask people to contact for examples of work.

true enough but that's an effort, and when there are so many web designers offering portfolios with good quality sites as well, why should a client choose to make the effort with this one? It's a well-designed site, no bones with that, just reckon you need a small selection of your work.

I still think it needs a bit more flavor - it feels kinda bland and looks too inspired by a number of standards-evangelism sites.

Don't understand the logo either.

i totally agree with some of the comments, your time is better spent trying to fill your portfolio with work, rather than constant tweaking of the littletoaster site. New challenges will develop your skills a whole lot quicker also.

Maybe so, but how do they knoiw he has designed the site himself, many agencies have their site designed elsewhere (god only knows why). They may want a logo or some brochure work as well as a website, you need to show different examples of or work across the board, your own site is just not nearly enough.

thanks for comments

all comments taken on board,

I have decided to make a featured project section on my homepage with the other project I have produced, I also have a few simple banners to make for a local accountants firm, which I really need to build my portfolio. I dont exactly class myself as a graphic designer, more of a web coder / developer. For Now!

I do think my main graphic / logo looks good, but the page needs something extra, a graphical focal point, any ideas?

littletoaster.com

Again, Thankd for comments, Tony

Meh... not so sure. Sorry.

You could try to differentiate the main body area from the flickr column. Maybe add a subtle tint of grey behind the flickr images?

EDIT: like so?
