haha its like a creche in here.

crèche
Related: Christian

(kr?sh, kr?sh) , representation of the Infant Jesus in the manger, usually surrounded by figures of Mary, Joseph, shepherds, animals, and the Wise Men; also called Christmas Crib. The crèche has been displayed in churches during the period from Christmas Eve to Jan. 6 since the Middle Ages, especially after St. Francis of Assisi instituted the custom in 1223 at Gréccio, Italy. It is a Christmas tradition in many homes. The term crèche is also applied to a day nursery .

haha baby jesus weeping.

Check out pgo's site..................it does have holes in it, not validated and is rated as 'POOR' on google ranking............so keep at it and try and take what critisism you can and tell the few 'wolves' to fuck off as you do not merit their remarks.
Haha, he's after me for reporting him for pirating someone else's content and images.

But thanks for pointing out the validation error on stickandink.com. Fixed now.

Hm.. Guess nobody likes the bamboo in the background, but I do know how to implement it in code and that will work. But, i dont think its suppossed to be taht sharp or else it would detract from the rest of it. But, thanks anyhow guys for the advice, I might look at losing the header altogether. But, an admin needs to clean up this thread...

I say leave it. It's pretty standard fare around here. And quite entertaining.

As for your site:

I'd shrink the text for one thing. You've got to be able to justify the Asian theme - your name is Huang, I see, so I guess that counts as some level of justification, but is the site about you or your work? What does the folio have to do with bamboo and ninjas? I don't mind the bamboo background (the silhouettes over the brownish tan texture).

When I think Asian, I think simplicity and elegance - these two are neither of those things. Simplify. Eleg...ate. Thinner lines, softer colors. As it is, it's harsh and in your face. Make things readable - not too big, not too small.

Drop the kicking guy altogether. That thing just looks tacky. Indeed, that whole header area looks unecessary - what's the point of having that bamboo and ninja guy? No reason - it's got nothing to do with your work or even the rest of the site, really. It just looks like an afterthought. Like it was thrown in because you couldn't think of anything else to go there.

As a general rule, if there's no reason for it, take it out. The bamboo silhouette background can stay because it does add some "flavor" to the site, but doesn't get in the way of content - and doesn't fight for attention.

agree with pgo that the bamboo background could work but just needs more work to integrate it with the main part of the site. To me both the grey and the black fight with the bamboo image whereas they should compliment it... maybe go with cream/ish colours instead.

And reduce the font size like so many have said already.
