in all honesty... it looks like you didn't put 5 mins into it... the background is not very attractive, your work is poorly displayed...

a site like this should attempt to place focus on your work and bring attention to your skills... it's hard to figure out much... you have a couple of links, but it's not clear what you do...

With RAKAN with this one... Poor structure, poor design... no real design.

You are trying to get visitors attention directed at your work... not the site. In this case, your background.

Ditch the background, can't see the work, then centre it all?

ey, sound. That's exactly what i'm doing. And Rakan, i said very temporary. Idea was to be a bit different anyway.

Gutted you don't like the background Oli, i've got it printed out A0 as wallpaper for an installation on family i'm doing at school.

would like to see new results

I would have to agree with many of the other posts here. The background needs to go. It doesn't look professional, and clients aren't necessarily looking for quirky. Fun, yes. Well thought out, yes. But quirky? I wouldn't think so. I don't see things as very organized here. I understand that it's temporary. Good luck in getting it organized as you want it!

Its not that I dont like it ( I dont ) but it really distracts from the work, and thats what you want people to focus on isn't it ?

All depends what kind of client you're after.

If he'd posted this:

http://www.sagmeister.com/

you'd of said the same kind of thing. Stefan Sagmeister would probably kick you in the shin if you told him 'lose the gawdy fit-inducing stripey nonsense'.

Choirs all. Thing is, i'm not really looking or a client am i? Oli's right that people should be focusing on the work, and i'll probly have a better background idea, that was an afterthought really. Sound anyway, i'm fine about taking intelligent crit from the likes of oli and b.o

temporary or not... at least place the focus on your work and organize the layout a bit... neatly laying out your very temporary portfolio is not a process that will take much time. I mean if no-one is going to see it, then it doesn't really matter what anyone thinks, right? and if people are going to see it, then at least neaten it up a bit...

don't get me wrong though, I like the work in your portfolio...

im with briljant oranje on this one...althoguh i do think you should try scaling down the backgroudn so that its not on the same level as the work on top...give that a go, might make it work a bit better

keep it quirky.....youll only get lost amongst a sea of playsafers otherwise..stand out and shine

Different strokes for different folk's.

Some will think it's great, some will think it's shit - the point is he's mega successful, which shows that you don't have to go with the flow if you want to be successful.

The guy who posted this has obviously got potential, so what if people on here don't dig it ? he should do his own thing - there's not many memorable designers about that just did what everyone else was doing.

take risks and do what you want - theres plenty of time to do dull, boring shit when you're in your twentys and you've sold your soul to some fat cunt who insists you use a blue to red gradient as a backdrop to his logo.

I've noticed over the last few weeks that you have some real, impressive talent, but that site is a let down. Maybe when you have a bit more experience you will succeed with something that is genuinely original.

In terms of graphic design you're light years ahead of where I was at seventeen. Keep it up! (that wasn't meant to sound patronising BTW).

FYI B.O. those of us in our thirties are perfectly capable of churning out boring crap too.

Ageist cunt
