Early Comp. Comments Please
Working on a comp at the moment. Some may recall my headaches regarding "Naming Myself" - well, I decided on just using my own name - going "independent contractor" style as opposed to trying to pass myself (an individual) off as a company/agency/whatever. So, without further ado, I present a comp. It's in an early stage, but I'd like constructive comments if you don't mind. Naturally, text treatments haven't been thought out. I'm looking more for commentary on the graphic elements - navigation bar, sidebar, etc. I'll work out font choices and whatnot next. EDIT: One more thing. The deep blue/grey bars up top, the orange horizontal bar, and the white will continue through the 100% width of the viewport. And the orange tab denotes which section the user is on ("services" in this case) and the white bar/text denotes a hover state. ![]() Last edited by pgo : 15-09-2005 at 03:19. |

well, not so sure about the orange (in fact not so sure about the overall color scheme), plus the top stripes make me think of pijamas... It feels kind of empty and dull at the moment. consider maybe adding more images/graphical elements. Just a thought... |

Haha, pajamas. I like the vertical stripes, though. There will certainly be more graphical elements, but this is a first step. I'll play with other colors, but the orange/blue combination is a good one, IMHO. Anyone else care to comment? Last edited by pgo : 15-09-2005 at 05:15. |

Still playing. Cam, Transmogrify - comments heeded. Here's one sans-stripes. And I agree on the old orange. Needed to brighten a bit. ![]() Naturally, there would be images in the content area - specific to the page. Just filler text for now. I haven't thought that far ahead - just basic structure now. Will have a new one tomorrow. Last edited by pgo : 15-09-2005 at 13:25. |

that looks much better pgo. briljant oranje, you're probably the most confusing member on here. Your picture's of a bird, so i think "Woman". Then you say "cunt" lots, so i think bloke, then, your name has js in it, so i think "Dutch". |

Not sure I want to go brighter on the pink... ![]() With brighter pink... ![]() What I like, and my original intent, is to have the "tab" shape (2 rounded corner rectangle) that's present in the nav sort of continue down to the sidebar for sub-nav - the shape and (at the moment, pink) bar establishing a relationship between the two. And I've thought of a possible way of reinforcing that AND keeping the consistent horizontal bar. Comp6 coming up in a jiffy. |

Version 6. Not sure about this, but it definitely is closer to my original hand drawing. And the relationship between the "current" global nav item and the sidebar should be quite apparent. The idea would be to extend the pink bar as far as necessary to meet each nav item's "current" tab... ![]() @gray - Yeah, the text needs a lot of work, but I'd prefer to do that when I get down to the CSS - where everything will be adjusted and fine-tuned. I find working with text in CSS much easier than in Photoshop. Also, re: gradient overlay on the sidebar - the purpose is that those sub-navigational links will be buttons - in the sense that a rollover will create a solid background, which will contrast with the current background. Drop shadows (actually "Outer glow" because it works better) are there for no real reason but to give things a bit more dimension. |
