What ya think?

I've just finished this site and I'd like to hear what you all think. Does the design work etc?
You can find it at www.antiquefinder.net (temporary address)

The few items on it at the moment are just to fill it up. And the apple display on the home page is going.

Thanks.

Well it's essentially finished. The items on the site will be dynamically added by clients so to fill it up i added a few myself. The only thing thats not finished is the home page.

allright, here we go:
designwise it does not fit the theme of the site. it's too modern (1995 modern).
plus it kind of lacks design?
the boxes are too blurry to my taste.
home page is just too empty, it has no footer...
buttons/tabs are too big, even at 1024 res

and since we are talking about web design, and code is part of that,
your code is bad. you're using tables, spacers, etc.
the markup isn't semantic...
too many keywords. google won't like that

You're probably right. The "View Details" Buttons are too big. However I quite like the thumbs being that size. I find it very fustrating looking at tiny images on screen. Also, people using this site could well be on the wrong side of 50. Bad eye sight...
Thanks

the section pages have a more complete feel to them than the home page, which is looking too sparse. Design wise it's not as bad as people are making out, the style may not be to everyones taste but it's clear, functional and easy to navigate

It was always important to me for the site to be usable. I'm not mad about the design myself but I'd like to think people that aren't accustomed to the internet could use it without too much hassle..

Job done, now sort out some of the coding issues, and take on board the problems about your home page like adding a footer and you can be on your way

I've got that before... What's so bad about tables? I'm not a full time web designer programmer by any means but tables seem to work fine for me. I hate CSS.

so you're not a webdesigner at all. I'm sorry I'm tired of explaining what WEBdesign is. Do a search on the forum. You'll find far better answers than I can give you

You're a web designer who doesn't know how to title a document. I am not a web designer and even I know how to give pages title i.e. the basics

That's a bit stupid.. Did you not see that the other pages were titled? I clearly forgot to title it.
