i use digital point to keep a track of quite a few sites:

it monitors backlinks too. how can the number of backlinks jump from 22 to 140 overnight, when i know there are not 140 backlinks to a site?

any thoughts? maybe its just their software being a tit?

backlinks are not generally updated in real -time so this might explain the large sudden jump.

yeah, but i know that these sites cannot have anywhere near the amount of backlinks it claims they have.

could be their software, or perhaps multiple links from one site? I got over 3,000 backlinks in Google once from one site, simple footer text link.

Ramped the site right up in the SERPS
