but still. they say that bad links (ie. rnaks of na or 0) actually have a negative effect on your pagerank so considering its a free counter there must be loads of shit sites linking to it and not many good ones. how can this result in 10? lies i tell you. lies! ::: TC Magazine :::

Some simple things
when you first look at a site like this, its not the nicest looking site and often leaves people thinking how does this rate so high etc but as any SEO will tell you that doesnt matter when gaining points in the search engine network. Spiders do not crawl and give points out for if it looks nice or not. This site has followed some basic rules when trying to optimze your site which is why it has the postion it has on google. Some of these include.. Google adverts...Yes sometimes can leave you looking a little less professional but google spiders will rate you higher for it.. The amount of text on the page...Spiders crawl your pages for all the info they can and follow different links on your pages to link your whole site...links and rich content on your index page is a must to gain good google ratings also using each keyword in your main <body> text makes each of your keywords classed more important to the spider crawling your page. As for the linking this page has... It has 29 Internal links and 24 External links (to other domains) so this is not a huge a amount as linking to pages that are not relevant to your own site can loose you points within the search engine network. A good looking site will bring back vistors and one thats optimized will bring more new visitors...best way is to find somewhere in the middle of all this. Enough of me rambling hope this helps  |

If either case was true your competitors would create vast numbers of dynamically created content with PR0 and link to you. They could easily put your link in "bad neighbourhood" sites such as link farms simply by submitting your link. Linking to a "bad neighbourhood" site will effect your SE placings severally tho... |

This can teach us web designers a thing or two. Mainly: the more (legitimate) links the merrier, link-farms & bad neighbourhoods excluded, thanks! For example Web Fundi always tries to get permission for a link from the client's web pages to our own site, usually in the footer on all pages. This really boosts page rank across the board, benefitting the client as much as our own site, and as the designer you can control the attributes of the link, giving plenty of keyword and keyphrase opportunities. With all our 30-odd sites all pointing to us, and our own portfolio links back to theirs we create a legitimate excercise in page-rank improvement that benefits the whole network in the major search engines. Combine this with killer optimised sites and a bit of forethought and keyword brainstorming prior to putting a customer's site together and your clients will not be disappointed. Jake |
