SEO Software

Anyone know of any software where you can check your position in the search engines for a given search term ?

Nice, u used it ?
What I want it for is to enter a search term and see where I rank in google for that term rather than having to scan through the pages by hand.
Will it do this ?

It will but the free version will only let you go up to the first 100 pages.

It's a really useful tool. I use the ranking and optimisation features all the time.

The text is read so it helps but it's not necessary. The most important thing is the ranking of the site linking to you.

SEO gets too indepth for my liking. There's stuff like this about - hope you like algebra.

SEO seems to be pot luck at the moment to be honest. Quality links seem the best way to improve you ranking....and that's about it :p

Optimising the pages and developing backlinks is what you need to spend time on.

Depending on the site, the best place to start developing backlinks is get submitting to directories (or get a monkey to do it for you).

You want to find the directories that don't use sneaky redirects though as that funks up any chance of passing PR. Basically take a look at the entries in the directories and go to a couple of the listed sites - check that the directory is quoted as a backlink in Google by doing a backlink check on the site.

Loads of directories here - http://www.isedb.com/html/Web_Directories/

In WebCEO there's a nice feature to check how optimised your pages are.
