Google Page Rank

I have a website, letters-to-you.com and a few months ago the GPR was 4, I believe. So when I checked it the other day and found that it was 0 I've been trying to work out why it decreased so much.

Does anyone know why this would happen? What I could do to change it?

Thank you for your time.

TBH, i don't think GPR have much importance and is of no value rather then it's just a Green bar for me. It's better to concentrate on getting more relevant backlinks and try to get top ranking for all your keywords in SE's.

Google Page used to depend on many factors one of them is backlinks from other high PR sites.

Just my opinion

Google page rank is very important!

You did a nice/excellent job for your SEO but you should be more careful about same thing. You are just on the half of way.

1. You have meta keywords but there is non in: text; url; alt... heading; italic; etc etc. And Google hates that. That's a pure, 100% valid Black Hat.

2. Add this line in the index page: <meta name="robots" content="index, follow" />. (I saw you validated etc etc). Make robots.txt and name there what you want. It is used mostly for "what Not to follow"...

3. Urls like you have are bad urls: yourdomain.com/Shop/Shop.php
Dont Ever put in your urls same word several times.

4.5.6... No RSS; No valid design (w3c)... Links should be on the websites with same topics...

Btw: Sorry for the late answer, i just registered today.

Don't worry about GPR. Under web designer we are on page 8 and we have a GPR of 3. It really doesn't mean much these days.

I think that GPR is very important!. When you need to exchange with some good site. They oftenly accept only high PR or same level pr. That's mean you can get well back link to your site.

For GPR 4 was decreased to zero. I think you maybe have some multi-domain problem or dns problem. You can contact with your host company and talk about this.

You can download Google toolbar to track your page rank or use website like popuri[dot]us.
Then you can use free software from WEBCEO (www[dot]webceo[dot]com) to track you ranking with your target keyword.

PR is important I believe but not as important as some would have you believe and not as unimportant as others would have you believe.

For me its a great guide at a glance to the integrity of a site, and the vast majority of on-line aware people and sites will agree. The PR isn't the be all and end all but if you have the back links, the content, the traffic etc. then the PR will raise accordingly and reflect as such. See Web-Design-Edges comments.

Also i would follow leftfield´s points, they are very valid to your site. If you are not accounting for SEO and PR now a days then the website or business is what's suffering due to traffic reduction not the visitors as without the above no one will see your site via search anyway. (of course if you employ local marketing as the generation of interest in your site and don't utilise the SERPs then that's your model, go for it.)

Oh bummer

Could be
1. you are selling links with dofollow
2. your blog are linked or linking to 'unfriendly' sites eg spams
3. the backlinks are totally wiped (google can ban such links is doesn't meet their TOS guideline)

Good luck, hope you get in good restore order with the search engines

one best soultion from my side:
You can use nofollow links selectively, say new blogs or any particular type of links that you dont want to spider.

But dont issue nofollow on all the links, that means your site stands suspended with all the incoming links (if any) and nothing to give around.

The google page rank is not that important but may be important in some cases, especially in highly competitive websites (e.g., ads site, real estate).

For me, in most cases, in-page SEO is sufficient.

The number of visit is sometimes not even important, what is important if you get the visitors who will actually do what you want with the website, like would they buy, or would they avail your service, etc.

For example, I have a client who owns a drugstore chain and is looking for drugstore franchisees. I optimized the site for keywords "drugstore franchise Philippines" (I'm based in the Philippines, and so does the client). Optimizing for keywords "franchising opportunity" would definitely yield a high traffic, but most of them are undecided; they are looking for business but is not yet sure what type of business. Optimizing for "drugstore franchise" would get more visitors from outside the Philippines, still it's more traffic. However, my client does not offer the franchising opportunity outside the Philippines. Hence, with they keywords that I chose to be the basis of optimization, the client would definitely get the intended audience, those who want a drugstore business and is based in the Philippines.

I have another client who brokers with commercial spaces. Unfortunately, real estate is a very competitive sector and as such, I cannot bring that website on top for keywords "commercial space Philippines". Hence, I am currently exploring how Google PR works and eventually increase that website's Google PR.

It's so sad that people really are worrying about GPR when there are a thousand more important things to worry about.
It's not like the sites mentioned are even that important in the grand scale of things.

GPR is only useful for marketing purposes and, has already been mentioned, is not even as important as it used to be.

When are people going to move on from 'gotta be number 1 on google' and concentrate on optimising their sites for humans, not machines.

SEO is based on learning, but you got to have enough time to learn Search Engines Optimizing. I can recommend you that web SEO guide: "vaughns-1-pagers.com/internet/google-ranking-factors.htm#negative-on"

First of all you got to analyze your meta tags. Second write informative and unique content for every page.
After that:
- Post newsgroups
- Press releases
- Article submission
- Reciprocal Links
- Forum Posting
- Directory submission

But the most important thing to keep your PR is to have enough daily traffic and good website content.

Or you can choose professional SEO company to improve your web site popularity and to get High Page Rank - "Online Creations, LLC" - Web Design and Development, SEO Marketing, Graphic Design Company
