Toolbar PageRank is only an overview; the real PageRank is something only Google knows and it's scale is 0 to millions. Toolbar PageRank gives an idea, but it's updated infrequently and quite vague.

PageRank is only one of the 200+ factors considered by Google and only evaluates the link architecture and 'voting'. Page relevance and overall importance (on a domain-wide level) are also key.

I wouldn't worry about PR TBH, but if you've suddenly shot down to toolbar PageRank of zero, then you may have been hit with a penalty of some sort. Check your site over with Google Webmaster Tools.
