Provide quality content and the visitors will come. You have to give people a reason to visit you.

What type of site is it?

Maybe your website has been moved to next index pages in newly Google update... Keep promoting your site, keep adding new content, must Google re-index it better.

There are many reasons your traffic could be lessened. You could be doing less to promote your website than before. Your PR could have decreased, or backlinks could also have been removed. Its good to index sites that link to you so you can check to see if your link remains if your traffic ever decreases. Also make sure you use an analytics program like google analytics to track when and where your visitors come from.

If you are having a static site, I would suggest you using this downtime to add some dynamic content. If you change your content on a rotating basic about once a week, your visitors will check on your site more often.

After all, you don't want to be looking at the same re-run on T.V. in real life do you?

May be you should rethink your SEO strategy. Also, try to get more backlinks from quality sites/blogs. Submitting your site to various directories will also help.
