search for phpSitemapNG, and you will find a nice php sitemap creation script. You can even use the online interface for free, but I prefer to install my own copy.

Google sitemap generator is a usefull tool.

I have used xml-sitemaps.com only maximum 500 pages will be indexed in sitemap for free otherwise its $20 for the script

I recommend using the paid version of Create your Google Sitemap Online - XML Sitemaps. allows for more pages and multiple sitemap formats.

IMO better try (it is hard in the beginning) to use google webmaster tools for creating xml. Login and you should see there some tools that google let to download. There is some new lines of code to insert in xml file.

xml-sitemaps.com is excellent, but it is making old coded (some lines) xml file.

For now there is no difference.

Remember: Google is your friend
