SEO for a new site...

I've recently setup my online portfolio for freelance web design, spent hours doing SEO'ing - I have PR4 but I am wondering the best way for me to start getting backlinks....I have only had one real client thus far before setting this portfolio up as it was just an "odd job" sort of thing, but I've relised I can make some good money from this.

Please help! Thanks.

Paul

if destroyedentity is the site in discussion - there's room for more (key) words in the metatags.

Will try thanks!

About the keywords, what would you suggest, as I don't have much text for them to relate too as of yet.

Do a link building:

1. Submit your site to Directory
2. Do a blogging
3. Write an article and get them syndicated
4. Participate on forums

I would also focus on site content as well. On the home page for example, you do not have a single repeating keyphrase.

I've said it before, and I'll say it again. Content is king!

Paul,
I will suggest you to add your keywords in title tag, meta tag. Keywords should be relevant to your site such as " freelance web design " " Quality web design " " freelance portfolio " HTML and XHTML CSS Javascript " " Web Development " etc...
Also get as many backlinks from other designing and development sites either by exchanging or by paying them.

Add useful contents for your site to attract visitor and bots.
Best place to market your site is at forums. All the best.
