Google Analytics - slow?

Has anyone noticed a hudge delay connecting to sites that use Google Analytics?

Isn't working for me at all now - currently 5 minutes and counting to view our site ... not good.
Looks like I'm going to have to remove the facility from all our sites ... shame, useful piece of kit

you could move the call to analytics to the bottom of your markup, e.g.

<script src="blah">
<script>blah blah</script>
</body>
</html>

which will mean the page content will load, but the progress bar won't stop until it gives up trying to load Analytics. should it timeout, it also means that all other javascript on that page will stop working in IE.

alternatively, just take it off now and put it back when their server starts responding normally again.
