BMW removed from Google Index

saw this over on boingboing:

Quote:
BMW's German page has been expunged from Google's search-results, apparently in retaliation for BMW's use of sleazy "doorway pages" that display different content to search-engine crawlers in order to fool them into valuing those pages more highly. A Google employee has confirmed the "Google Death Penalty" for BMW on his blog.

I doubt it is. They'll get back on eventually by cleaning up their act

The irony here is that BMW.de is a highly inaccessible site right from the front-page: a JavaScript-only navigation prevents access by certain browsers, browser settings or media (such as handheld browsers), and it also prevents search bots from effectively crawling the site. It might well be that BMW’s doorway pages were a reaction to the otherwise inaccessible site structure
That was time well spent.

They're also missing out on page rank increases now that all these sites are linking to them about this issue. How ironic.
