Search Engines as Leeches on the Web

Quote:
We've known since AltaVista's launch in 1995 that search is one of the Web’s most important services. Users rely on search to find what they want among the teeming masses of pages. Recently, however, people have begun using search engines as answer engines to directly access what they want -- often without truly engaging with the websites that provide (and pay for) the services.

Jakob Nielsen speaking sense? It's a miracle...

What a bag of shit...

robots.txt if they're so worried about their content. Or better yet stay off the fucking web.
Mr Nielsen especially. Does anyone listen to that fuck?

I don't know if it's pick-on-emilpaun-day, but you totally missed the point of that article.

Sigh.

It's true what he says. But the tone is wrong and it's nothing new. waffling Anti coorp persecution. Everyone knows that search 'controls' the web but we'd all be poorer without it. Well those who use SEO and profit from SERPS do anyway. (flash designers need not apply <ducks>)

This type of anti establishment snivelling communal sentiment is rife. Move on I say.
