Keywording for SEO

I'm looking for a safe way (if possible) to add text content/keywording for search engines to a site that contains only images/flash and no html text. As far as I can tell, any kind of SEO is considered spam by the search engines - what's the solution?

Thanks

Well, you could add meta tags, not that they mean much anymore. I guess the <title> tag and backlinks will be what gets you on search engines. Submit it to every search engine and directory and showcase site you can find.

Nothing wrong with SEO, so long as it's legit. Except that rule #1 of SEO is don't use Flash.

I think that th best solution here is to also provide a non Flash version of your website, rich in text and keywords, otherwise you don;t stand too much chances...
Also it is good for your visitors, because even myself, I love Flash, but not the second time I return to the website and I have to wait again. Especially if it is a website where I am looking for content and I am only interested to find something fast...

Agree with what everyone says here. IMHO, having a flash site, is not SEO-friendly.

A good rule of thumb for SEO is Accessibility. Make it accessible and semantic and the search engines should understand it all.

Very true, but he's talking about Flash sites.

a text only version (also great for blind/disabled folk) is a nice way of doing things.

Indeed, I'd say that having a text version as well is handy. But just bare in mind, Google for example, as well as the page body, it mainly searches in the <title> but also in the meta description tag.

At least I presume it uses the description tag because that shows up in the search results if it's available.

So, yes, I'd say maintain a text version as well just for the purpose of SEO... But obviously presume people will enter the site that way, and recommend them to switch to the flash version so all your hard work doesn't go to waste.
